Romantic Summer Engagement Photos at Kincaid Sand Dunes, in Anchorage, Alaska
This romantic engagement session was the perfect summer day at the Kincaid Sand Dunes in Anchorage, Alaska. Xaviera and Chong chose Kincaid Sand Dunes for some “beachy vibes” as they plan to have their wedding in Hawaii. When Xaviera and Chong reached out to me for their engagement photos I was so stoked! When we met for the day of their session the weather was PERFECT!
Xaviera and Chong grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and met each other through mutual friends. They clicked and are just the sweetest people. We walked through the woods to get some epic photos and reach the sand dunes for the real magic. These two went along with all of my prompts from sweet, to quiet, to absolute silly. I cannot wait for more sessions at the Kincaid Sand Dunes like this one.
Planning your engagement session at Kincaid Sand Dunes.
The Kincaid Sand Dunes is located in west Anchorage. Once you arrive in the parking lot you will probably want to turn around because you’ll only see trees. (This is what happened to me the first time I arrived). The woods block the dunes. It is a short less than a mile hike to get out of the woods and to the dunes. Once you reach the dunes, it is absolutely breathtaking. The sand dunes go from high to low and look out onto the Turnagain Arm (body of water connected to the ocean). Not only do you see the Turnagain Arm but you’ll see the mountains on the Kenai Peninsula.
I highly recommend wearing comfy clothes if you choose to do your photos here. This means no heels. There is no point since it’s the dunes. I recommend either sandals or bare feet. You’ll be trekking up and down the sand dunes so be prepared to sweat a little. It’ll be worth it! Bring some water and be prepared for a sweet time.
The Kincaid Sand Dunes are perfect for the summertime. Once winter hits, you’ll only see snow. Check out this elopement I photographed here during the winter. Still looking around for the perfect location for your engagement photos in the Anchorage, Alaska area? I got you - check out this blog.
