Beluga Point | Mountain and Ocean Views near Anchorage, AK
When I first moved to Anchorage, Beluga Point was one of the first places I knew I had to visit. Me, a small town Midwestern girl, have never seen such tall mountains along the seaside before. I never even dreamt I would be able to see such views. As I drove down the iconic Seward Highway, my breath was taken. I could not believe what I was seeing. Gorgeous mountains topped with snow, and waves crashing against the rocks. It was a sight I never thought I would ever get to experience.
I was so excited when I got to do a couple’s session here with Carli and Mark. They have lived in Anchorage for a short time, and I’m so glad I got to take photos of their time here before they ventured off to their new place. Anchorage was their first place they got to call “home” as a married couple.
The day was windy cold temps at 40 degrees, and wind speeds nearing 40 mph. We literally could have been swept away if we wanted to. Carli and Mark were freaking game, and we had a blast frolicking around and trying to stay warm all at the same time.
If you are planning a trip to Alaska, you most likely will be flying into Anchorage (where I’m located). Checkout Beluga Point, a short 20 minute drive from Ted Steven International Airport. This is an “instagrammable” view. A nice area to picnic and watch the sunset. You may see some rock climbers during your drive on the Seward Highway, and spot some seagulls flying above your head.
Beluga Point is a great place for engagement photos if you are not wanting to hike to get epic views. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a nice scenic backdrop for photos.
Enjoy the photos.
