Eagle River Nature Center Elopement // Anchorage, Alaska
An Elopement at Eagle River Nature Center
We captured moments in the snow before it all melted in their wedding attire! It was warm, then cold, then windy, but ALL beautiful.
Eloping during break up season in Alaska?
During the months of March - Mid May in Alaska you can expect lots of slushy ice and snow. You will see trash in places where it shouldn’t be, grassy spots, snowy spots, and lot and lots of puddles. During "break up season” it’s the time where all the snow and ice starts melting in Alaska. I wouldn’t say it’s the prettiest, but definitely adds to the mood and the feeling of everyone breaking free from the darkness and coldness they were all stuck in for a couple of months. During this time of year you start seeing people pull out their bikes, shorts, and will see people from left to right enjoying the sun and “warm” weather. When I say “warm” one day it could be in the 50s and the next it could be 30s. Just like in this session!
This styled elopement at the Eagle River Nature Center was amazing! The weather went from sunny, bright and warm until the clouds rolled in and brought the wind and cold with it. It quickly became very moody and dark all at once which made for some epic photos. We of course were not prepared, so we all stuck out in the cold together. It was definitely worth it.
The Eagle River Nature Center is a gem here in Alaska. The drive to the nature center is beautiful. You’ll be surrounded by mountains left to right. It’s a nice straight and windy drive. You’ll reach the end of the road and start a trek down to the river and epic mountain view. I always recommend the Eagle River Nature Center when people decide to come visit the Anchorage area.
What’s not shown is our freezing fingers and us sludging through puddles. Enjoy the pictures!
